Hello Saybrook Pool Families,

We are excited to announce that the competitive swim lesson program will be coming back to Saybrook Pool this summer.  These lessons are designed to better prepare your 3-7 year old for swim team in the future. Please note that while swim team staff runs the lessons, they are separate from the swim team.  However, you do have to be a member of Saybrook pool.   For membership information, please contact  Tom Zielinski at 630-637-9001 or saybrookmembership@wowway.com.

Lessons will be one flat rate of $150 and will run 4 days a week from June 13th through July 15th (Mondays- Thursdays or Tuesdays- Fridays).  Exact days will be announced in Mid May once instructors’ schedules are confirmed.  Our swim team coaches, led by Ruthy O'Malley will be teaching the lessons during the time frame of 10:30am to noon in half hour sessions. More experienced swimmers will be earlier, with the newer swimmers starting later.

The lessons will be leveled into Beginner 1 through Intermediate 2 groups and there will be a limit of 30 spots open for swim lessons. The swim lesson levels are explained in detail in the “Swim Lesson Brochure” located on the Saybrook Pool website (www.saybrookpool.com) or at the Saybrook Sharks website (www.saybrooksharks.org).  The registration forms for swim lessons willl be available on the websites starting on April 21st with ongoing registration until the lessons are full.  THERE IS NO ONLINE REGISTRATION FOR SWIM LESSONS, THAT IS ONLY FOR SWIM TEAM.  Priority registration will go to those families who attended last year.  New registrants will be on a first come basis.  After 30 spots are filled registration will be closed and your child will be put on a waiting list.   So be sure to get your registration forms to Dawn Roche ASAP.

When filling out your registration forms, please indicate to your best knowledge your child’s current level.  If they are taking lessons now, please have the instructor advise you.  We will be placing the kids into groups based on age and ability.  You should hear from us in mid-May regarding the exact time s and days. Please note, that our goal is to keep the kids in the same groups, however, some changes may occur early on if it is in the best interest of your child.  We will contact you personally if this is the case.

If you are older than 7 or you are put on a waiting list, swim team coaches and lifeguards will be available for private lessons throughout the summer. A flyer listing the available teachers and their contact information will be posted at the pool this summer.

Please feel free to email me at debbie.phillips@mac.com if you have any questions.
